Partially accredited programmes with the European Diploma in Optometry

Partially accredited programmes allow students to complete part of the European Diploma requirements, which may allow them to reach their degree in the future as they complete any outstanding requirements. ECOO is currently considering running parts of the examinations in the future, to allow students who have followed a partially accredited course to receive the European Diploma in Optometry. Should this be pursued, an announcement will be published on the ECOO website.

ECOO is accrediting further Universities on an ongoing basis and the process has already started in various other European countries. As soon as further courses are accredited, this will be announced and this section will be updated.

You would like to receive the European Diploma in Optometry but are not a student anymore or you cannot enrol in any of the above courses?

Unfortunately, at present, there is no possibility to take the European Diploma in Optometry examinations outside of the above-mentioned programmes.

Independent examinations for all parts of the diploma have been organised in the past. However, with the accreditation of several universities, the independent examinations are being phased-out for Part A and Part B after the year 2019 and it is no longer possible to sign-up for these. Only students who are already registered can undertake these exams up to 2019.

ECOO is currently considering running parts of the examinations in the future, to allow students who have followed a partially accredited course to receive the European Diploma in Optometry. Should this be pursued, an announcement will be published on the ECOO website.

I am registered for the independent examinations, where can I find information?

This section is only applicable to candidates who registered in the past (see above). No further registrations for Part A and Part B are possible. Registrations for Part C is still possible for graduates of universities who have accreditation for Part A and Part B. Information about this opportunity will be published as it becomes available.

All information for registered students can be found here
